ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Why bother comparing? Just enjoy it :-)
price paid:385 CHF
positive:Love at first sight and a genuinely excellent all purpose prime!
Fast, accurate and razor sharp AF focusing.
Excellent manual focusing ability as well, since the focus ring merely turns approximately 35 degrees from close-up to infinity.
Very solid build quality.
Colours really come alive with this lens.
Half the size and weight compared to the latest and expensive Zeiss and Sigma alternatives.
negative:The aperture ring doesn't feature an infra red marker.
The lens hood feels a bit flimsy, although it actually does fit perfectly well.
comment:It is very difficult finding a mint condition Minolta AF 24 F2.8 in Switzerland. Despite having seen far cheaper offers on e-Bay and alike, I decided to fork out 385 Swiss Franks for this beauty, since the lens is as good as new and also came with an original Minolta Skylight 1B filter attached to the front of the lens. I'd highly recommend the Minolta AF 24 F2.8 to anybody who is looking for a lovely general purpose prime lens.
