comment:One hell piece of lens! Definitely one of the most succesful product made by Minolta in optics. It's can be reference to other lens in sharpness and colour issues. Someone can find it as too heavy for a usual walkaround lens but in my opinion it's so much versatile that its weight shouldn't be measured as cons.
It's really worth of money spent and I highly recommend it to everyone that cannot decide which lens buy instead of kit 18-70 lens.
Regarding build issues one must be told that it's diffucult to find something more solid in the lens market (even today)then this model. Perfect glass.
