positive:Cheap, light but solid, decent IQ.
negative:Only f4 at best.
comment:Reading the reviews of this lens tells me that samples vary considerably! My copy is a very decent lens, better than most of the alternatives. Better than the Sony/Minolta 18-70 kit lenses but the loss of the wide end would be a real negative on APS. On FF it works well, it's not going to replace my 24-85 or 28-105 as my favoured walk arounds, but it's a lot better than I anticipated.
I particularly like the colour and, though it's not the sharpest of zooms it is pretty good out to the corners once stopped down a bit. There is some vignetting, easily corrected, but my copy controls CA better than most zooms of its age. All in all it's a nice light, small lens to pop in your pocket as backup to a prime or two.
