positive:An ideal "standard" lens for 7D;
Great performance in compact package.
negative:Price new; No "D" chip
comment:Bought on e-bay in pristine condition for very competitive price

Spent the last week with it as only lens on my 7D and am absolutely delighted to have access to high quality f2 performance with a more versatile angle of view (42mm equivalent) than the reframed 50mm (75mm equivalent). This in a compact and light package.

Ideal indoors for casual people shots (perfect for available light snaps of friends across the table for example, allows flexible framing even in smallish rooms), and behaves as a "universal" lens outdoors. On 7d, it allows close range portraits without exagerated perspective oddities. Focuses down to 30cm. Must be nice to use on film bodies as well...

Results are absolutely perfect in terms of definition and contrast, even wide open. No AF issues at all with 7D.

A great piece of equipment for those days you want to travel light, without a cumbersome zoom.
