positive: | Great range on full frame for a walk around lens Low cost Power zoom works surprisingly well Pretty sharp stopped down |
negative: | Manual focus is not practical |
comment: | I purchased this lens as a walk around lens because I prefer a bit more reach than my 28-75 offers and this one had been reviewed well. The only issue I've had with this lens was finding one without a sticky aperture. The third copy did the trick and has performed well. It's not quite as sharp as several of my other lenses but is acceptably sharp wide open and pretty good stopped down a stop or two. I find it to be a good compromise of cost, sharpness and range. |
