comment:I bought this lens many years ago based on its' positive ratings. It is one of my 2 least used lenses. I find that on my A300 and A700, my Min 28-85 outperforms it in all areas except weight & size. I found that barrel distortion at the short end was correctable, but more than the 28-85 or 35-105. On my copy, the colors seemed to be more neutral than the 28-85. Flares badly without a hood; get a short 49mm rubber hood and you'll be okay.

I will keep this lens for use on full-frame when I eventually get there. It is a neat little lens that is about as unobtrusive as my 50 f1.7. If I shot "street" it would get more use; I don't so for now, it stays on the shelf.
