ownership:I used to own this lens
compared to:Plenty.
price paid:
missing
positive:Macro switch.
Colors.
Constant f/4.
Reliability of Minolta legacy lenses.
So cheap these days it's dang near free.
negative:Hood is a joke, and that is IF you find it with the usually missing hood.
No ADI and no modern coatings.
Focal range is not so great on FF and pathetic on APSC.
Zoom ring is small and clumsy.
comment:This is a tiny lens. Lightweight and small is nice, but focal range is not so nice. On apsc bodies, 35-70 is as odd as you can find.

Colors are very nice, typical Minolta.

Sharpness is pretty good and bokeh is pleasing enough.

This lens would benefit from a better hood, and for whatever reason many are for sale without the hood.

This is a good lens if you are on a budget. Give it a shot. It certainly is cheap enough. Cropped sensor cameras will not pair well indoors. Outdoors the focal range is less of an issue. This lens will render superior images to Sony's 18-70 kit lens.
