ownership:I own this lens

price paid:20 USD used
positive:Price. These are plentiful and very inexpensive. Nice walk around size. Macro. Great color and excellent sharpness once micro adjusted on the A77. Good auto focus even in dark situations with virtually no hunting. Good build quality, and works surprisingly well for it's age. Light (since it's not large), making it a nice lens for an all day outing or event. Renowned Minolta colors.
negative:Not much....
Purple fringing in high contrast, especially back-lit shots (but fixable in PP). Would have been nice to have been an f2.8 or lower for low light use but a flash will compensate.
comment:Once this lens is micro-adjusted on the A77, the focus is spot on 99.9% of the time and razor sharp, with only the occasional miss. Focus is fast even in low light situations (considerably lower light than will expose actually), with virtually no hunting. If you're on a tight budget, this is an excellent choice to add to your lens collection. I went to shoot a wedding with 5 lenses in tow, and ended up using this one for 80% or more of the shots with excellent results.
I've seen a lot of complaints of range on a crop sensor that it's not big enough for group shots, well back up a little :-)
