ownership:I used to own this lens
compared to:I've had most of the other "good" Minolta standard zooms. This is right up there for sharpness, and I remember contrast as being high.
price paid:no idea, sorry.
positive:Great and consistent sharpness and contrast. From memory bordering on a score of 5.
Very light and compact.
negative:Long minimum focus distance (MFD).
comment:Will probably re-acquire one sometime to try on digital. I wouldn't bother except that I have become a great believer and small and light equipment.

Cannot remember whether distortion was significantly less bad then the other lenses, but in any case, how difficult is it to try to rationalise distortion, which varies massively along a zoom's focal length, into one crude whole number? I can't do it effectively, and I think I'm more meticulous than many!
