ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm f2.4
S-M-C Takumar 35mm f3.5
Minolta AF 35-105 f3.5-4.5 Mk1
price paid:£225
positive:Solid build;
Good hood;
negative:Some CA at f2 on strong contrast areas.
Tricky to manual focus.
comment:Tried this on both a Sony A850 and A99.
I thought it would not compare to the two vintage lenses I already owned, but I was pleasantly surprised by the sharpness, especially compared to the CZJ Flektogon, which has a good reputation (and deserved). At 35mm the 35-105, which also has a good reputation, just does not come up as sharp until around f8. Then it is hard to see any difference.
Feels nicely balanced on both cameras and even wide open it produces sharp centres, but the corners are a bit soft.
Really happy to own this lens now, as it had been on my wish list for about two years. A rare lens that still holds its price and certainly cost me more than both vintage lenses combined.
Will certainly be in my bag for a long time yet.
