ownership:I own this lens
compared to:70-200 SONY 2.8 SSM
price paid:2700 USD
positive:Build quality
Bokeh
Good compromise between size, weight and aperture (compared to 2.8 lenses with same focal length)
AF ring protected when using a beanbag
Image quality amazingly preserved with 1.4 teleconverter
negative:Needs a bit of colour post-processing
AF too old and noisy, hunts in low lights, even with A900.
comment:Another excellent G lens. Superb build quality. Beware of the small DOF. Easy to use handheld, but for moving objects, tripod or beanbag recommended. Colours not as faithful as 70-200 2.8 SONY. Works GREAT with alpha 900 ; better stabilization than alpha 700 and super I.Q.; I really hope that Sony will keep this original lens and produce a SSM version.
