ownership:I used to own this lens
compared to:- Sony 50/1.4
- Sigma 50 F1.4 HSM
- Minolta 24-105/3.5-4.5
- 24-70za
- other primes
price paid:300 USD (used)
positive:+ light weight
+ sharpness wide open
+ Sharp very good from F2.8
negative:- not very useful on APS-C (IMHO)
- extends on focusing
- not sharp from F1.4 to F2
- non SSM
comment:I buy this lens with my first camera (A100). With this lens start my love to Minolta primes. I used it for portret and in low light condition. Love this lens, change later to sony version, which will be new, and i think that SAL-50/1.4 be litle sharper than Minolta 50/1.4. For me more useful primes on APS-C cameras 35 and 85.
