price paid:450 aud
positive:Sharp, sharp, sharp, And fast focusing.
negative:Heavy. My copy is cosmetically challenged.
comment:Creates beautiful images. Demonstrates how good the top end lenses really are.

In back to back comparison with the 70-300G sports shooting on A700, I find the 70-300 to be lighter and easier to maneuver and produce images of comparable quality in good light. With the extra reach of the 70-300, its more appropriate for different applications than the 80-200 which of course has the advantage of having a few extra stops.

It's nice to have a choice.
