comment:Love at first sight :-)

It's a wonderful lens... Pictures taken with this beauty are beautiful, great colours, bokeh, 3D-feel. Sharpness is reasonable even wide open, as is contrast and when you stop it down a little it gets better and better. I used to think Sony's 85/2.8 is a very good lens - well, it's not bad, but nothing compared to Minolta 85/1.4.
Of course, AF is a bit slow, which may be annoying while taking a picture of a fast moving child. Of course, CA is a problem especially wide open. Of course it's not advised to take pictures with strong source of light ahead or aside. But... AF is very reliable, CA may be quite easily removed and you can use your hand to avoid the sunlight (the hood doesn't help much).
So if you can afford it - buy it, you won't regret it!
