positive:This may be the greatest portrait lens I've ever used (at least on full-frame). The colors are as nice as you can hope to find.
negative:Manual focus doesn't feel quite as nice as I'd like. Especially at the corners, wide open, it seems a tad less sharp than the Zeiss. Once in a great while, flare has been a problem (though the hood is very effective).
comment:This lens epitomizes the fast 85mm portrait lens. Technically the Zeiss is probably a better lens, but it just doesn't have the "magic" of the Minolta. I never found the 85 particularly compelling on APS-C. I'm not at all sure why, since I really like 135mm on full-frame, which gives nearly the same FoV, but for some reason I was never nearly as happy with the results.
