comment:The image quality this lens produces is simply astounding. It excels in every possible aspect (sharpness, color, contrast, bokeh, etc etc) one can think of. In terms of optic quality, it beats the 35/1.4 G and 28-70/2.8 G in my opinion (these lenses are used for different purposes though).

Build quality is nothing but 5-star. AF speed can be improved but is more than enough for what this lens was designed for (portraiture).

*UPDATE*
The Sony Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 is sharper at large aperture setting (1.4-2.8) and better built with an all-metal construction (even the hood and focus ring are metal). But the Minolta still has a special place in my heart.
