positive:+outstanding resolving power
+smoothest colour rendering
+some of the best bokeh
+virtually zero lateral CA
+pro grade build
+looks sexy
negative:-loudest AF I've ever heard
-some purple fringing
-some longitudinal CA
-veiling/softish at f/1.4-1.7
-kinda heavy for the size
comment:This is first and foremost a portrait lens. And boy does it do it well. From f/1.4 to 1.7 there is a a fair amount of veiling which gives a dreamy, diffused, and flattering look to portraits. But for everything else with hard lines, it looks soft. However when stopped down to f/2.4 and lower, contrast is literally perfect and this lens is one of the sharpest I have ever laid my hands on. Image rendering really does have that magic to it that other owners swear by.

I've only played with the CZ85/1.4 for a short while, but I am already very fond of Minolta colours so this Minolta sure does feel like a keeper.

On film/full frame this lens is a very nice and natural focal length. On APS-C I sometimes feel like I need to step back a bit.
