positive:Ultra wide, Cheap, No comma

comment:Actually, the lens is a real pleasure to use and produce sharp pictures BUT: You need to calibrate the lens if you expect good pictures. Mine was not nice then I saw on the internet that you can easily calibrate the lens. I did it and I was surprised with totally different results. Sigma DG 15-30mm F3.5-4.5
price paid:240
positive:Sharp, very sharp from F4 Edge to Edge even compare to SONY ZEISS 16-35mm F4
no comma, best for astronomy
F2.8 usable

Color is warmer than the Zeiss
negative:Semi-fisheye distortion, although it can be correct by PS
Large & Heavy
cannot add filter easily
comment:For ultrawide lens, It is always a trade-off between distortion control and edge sharpness. the Samyang 14mm F2.8 give-up the distortion control. Still, It is good at landscape and astronomy. For this range, Auto focus is not a must.

the Sigma 15-30mm is the first I got, its EXP become lighter when taking real shot, and its color is horrible. It large and heavy

the Minolta 17-35mm is the best minolta color (the ZEISS is a little blue tone & Samyang is a bit yellow) but the edge resolution is so poor and even F11 didn't improve too much.

Samyang 14mm give me end to end sharpness, but when use in architect or city you must correct every photo. It large and heavy, its a prime, sometime you have to crop the photo to get what you want

Zeiss is best for walk arround snapshot, It got OSS as well. but it got comma at night and I cost more

positive:Very wide field of view
Modest distortion
Built like a tank
negative:Weight
No filters possible
No depth of field indicators
No EXIF
Full manual
comment:When moving to full frame I wanted something that could match my Sigma 8-16 for a reasonable price. The Samyang seems heavy on my A7II and I use it less than I used to use the APS-C Sigma. I'm not a pixel peeper, but it seems quite sharp and the distortion is usually not noticeable, but can become apparent in architectural images with strong lines. I rarely use the f2.8, rather staying around 5.6 or 8 where depth of field is impressive. In the light of this, the recently announced Voigtländer 10, 12 & 15mm lenses for FE mount sound interesting.
