ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 (crop sensor A-mount)
Minolta 20mm f/2.8 (A-mount)
Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 (A-mount)
price paid:NZD$680
positive:A very fast wide angle lens for astrophotography and landscape work. Has much lower coma and astigmatism than most other lenses I've seen. Nice colours. Minor but easily correctable distortion. Pretty good corner sharpness at f/1.4, but from f/2.8 to f/8 its tack sharp across the entire frame! Very well priced considering the high quality images it can resolve.
negative:No autofocus, but most people will use it for astrophotography which negates the need for autofocus. Vignette at f/1.4, but that is again easily correctable.
comment:If you shoot astrophotography with any Sony E-mount full-frame camera, this is a must have lens. Great sharpness, colour, and very low coma/astigmatism make it the perfect stills lens for the night sky, and if shooting on something like my Sony A7S the f/1.4 aperture will allow you to shoot real-time video of aurora, milky way, and things your eyes will struggle with.
