| comment: | This was a nice looking used copy with original hood and front lens cap from a large eBay store. The lens had a minor misalignment problem, but that is typical of 35mm primes. It was much better aligned than the Sony A 35mm F1.4 G that I had just returned or the FE 35mm F1.4 Distagon I had tried previously and even a bit better than any of the F1.8's I've tried so far. This lens is larger and heavier than their 50mm and 85mm F1.4 AF primes or the 35mm F1.4 GM. It has a similar amount of distortion as the Minolta/Sony 35mmm F1.4 G. Overall quality is much better than the old SLR lens. The Sony FE 35mm F1.8 is sharper outside the center of the frame. It has a much warmer color cast than the more recent F1.8 lens. |

| comment: | The IQ produced on this lens is nice and I like the results. Unfortunately, on my A7R3, this lens has on a number of occasions simply frozen, requiring the camera to be switched off and on again to start working. Not good, hence my low build quality rating. Having said that, this was on an older firmware. Not seen the issue on the latest firmware, but due to Covid, I have not had much opportunity to test if It has fixed the problem. |
