comment:I've decided that 778 grams is too much for an F1.4 normal prime, and I do not care for the astigmatism of FE ZA Planar. I also have mixed feelings about the older Samyang AF 50mm F1.4.

On paper this looks to be a great compromise for a normal prime. It is a nice size and weight.

This is the sharpest wide-open F1.4 prime I've used so far--a bit sharper than the FE Planar with just a bit of directional fringing. But the edges are not very sharp even stopped down. It might be a spacing issue, as the published MTF chart looks better, but reviews showed similar performance. The corners are similar to the Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM.

This seems a good option for centered portraits, but fairly poor choice for other uses.
