ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Can't really compare as I only have one UWA lens
price paid:£280 used
positive:Solid build
Great for interior
Landscape use
Constant f3.5
negative:Nothing really
comment:Had researched this lens against the Sony 11-18, but decided on this for both constant aperture and price. Pairs well with both the SLT-58 and 68, with no back or front focus issues.
I have used it to create some very wild looking cityscapes and it is a great landscape lens. It is also great for interior work, coupled with a flash. Makes my house look a lot bigger!
At 20mm, it is also usable as a portrait lens, but not less than that, if you do not want your subject to look chunky.
Feels good in the hand, weighty and solid build. Focus is fast and the constant aperture of f3.5 is not too bad.
