positive: | - low weight - compact size - AF performance (including tracking and Eye-AF) - sharpness - very effective stabilization with panning mode - not white - 67mm filter size |
negative: | - zoom ring turns the wrong way - a bit of vignetting - corners not perfectly sharp but this is rarely an issue for what I'm doing - overpriced tripod ring, get one of the knock-offs if you want one |
comment: | This replaced the SAL70400G1 when I completed my switch to E-mount. It's lighter, stabilized and has quicker AF than my old G. It's so compact that I actually prefer an L-plate over the VG on the camera. IQ is awesome, center sharpness is excellent. This works really well as a lens for field hockey or other turf sports in combination with the A7III. I have no longing for the Sony G equivalent, not worth the extra money, IMHO. |
