positive: | Sharp Value for money, 67mm filter ring matches all my Tampon 28-78 and 17-28mm lenses. Raised marker for indexing the lens mount so can feel it in the dark when changing lenses rather than just a painted line. twist and push pool for zoom |
negative: | zoom only locks at 100mm focusing on areas which lack contrast such as clouds Lens cap falls of quite easily |
comment: | Side by side comparisons show little difference compared to Sony 100-400mm zoom. I also bought the Sigma TS 111 tripod collar mount. It is quite expensive but worthwhile as when zoomed to 400mm it would otherwise be quite a turning moment on your tripod and lens mount. there are now much cheaper third part collars available. One down side I've come across if th difficulty focusing on clouds where it hunts and rarely snaps in to ficus. |
