comment:After enjoying the 28-70mm and 100-400mm DG DN Contemporary zooms, I decided to try the wide-angle zoom. I made a Greentoe offer like I had done with the Tamron 17-28 mm. "MADE IN JAPAN"

The Sigma is slightly larger and heavier than the Tamron. It is arguably more of an internal zoom since the front element is fixed unlike the Tamron. The rear element moves in the same direction as the Tamron when zooming. The Sigma is easier to mount--perhaps due to gasket differences. Sigma continues to use the non-native zoom direction. The zoom action may be somewhat lighter than the Tamron. The filter size is larger than the other DG DN Contemporary zooms.

The Sigma is somewhat better aligned than the Tamron. The long end is especially sharper.
