positive:Great walk around focal length, good build
negative:Not very sharp, poor AF, slow
comment:I used this lens on my Canon 10D. I cannot recommend it to anyone. Yes its a good focal length. You need to really stop it down for optimal sharpness and photos require allot of USM. My EX lens is light years ahead of this lens. Its probably better than the 18-70mm kit lens but not by much. Im not a newbie and compared to my old Canon L and Sigma EX glass this lens simply does not cut it at 18mm or 125mm. I wanted to like it but it never performed to its full potential.
