comment:I bought this lens as an all-in-one travel solution. initially I thought it was a bit soft but it's fine stopped down to f5.6 at the wide end and f8 at full tele. I find the files need a bit more sharpening than normal and that I get better results using the High Pass filter method than using USM.
Overall I'm quite pleased with this lens and it covers 95% of my photographic needs. It would benefit from better macro capability.
It's not a low light solution but comes into it's own when traveling especially since air travel baggage restrictions are getting worse.
