comment: | After the lovely 30mm F2.8 Art, I was hoping for similar performance from it's slightly larger brother. I also purchased a second well used copy for $123. This copy had some obvious tilt as the right side is much sharper than the left. The Sony E 20mm F2.8 pancake is better stopped down across the frame. The Sigma is good for centered subjects wide-open. This behavior is at odds with uses suggested by their physical size difference. The A-mount 16-50mm F2.8 SSM kit zoom has much better image quality than either of these but does't work well with E-mount cameras. |

positive: | Lightweight Compact Excellent AF performance |
negative: | Lower sharpness than other ART series Plastic build require appropriate care f11+ shows diffraction |
comment: | For a couple hundred dollars, you won't find a better superwide. Hardly perfect but has the widest range of usable apertures and works with the a6300 AF controls very well. Competes with many much more expensive lenses. This piece is part of my hiking lens kit, which includes its 60/2.8 sibling and an M42 Takumar 100/4 macro. |

positive: | Great image quality, fast enough, solid build, excellent fit to e mount, exif says it's a sony 19mm lens, excellent focusing on the A6000, less so on the A3000 due to very different focusing engines. Excellent value for money. Compact and light weight. |
negative: | flare may be an issue when indirectly aimed into a low sun, more or less within expectations for this semi-wide angle lens. Won't make sharp sunstars due to very small f16 f22 aperture, rounded iris, but stars it does make. |
comment: | I really like this lens a lot. It's a great wide angle walkabout lens and great for landscapes, panoramas and indoors. f 2.8 on the APSc is fast enough. Lens rattle is not a problem, it's in the design and it looks, feels and performs like a pans-leica on the m43 line. Album at https://www.flickr.com/photos/roguemd/sets/72157645739777411/ |
