ownership:I own this lens
compared to:KM 18-70mm kit lens, Minolta 35-70mm f4
price paid:Ł269.99 (new)
positive:Fantastic build quality, good zoom range, no CA, fast autofocus, front element doesn't rotate.
negative:No SSM/HSM, 82 mm filter is expensive
comment:This is an excellent lens, and I am very pleased that I bought it. I will mainly use it for portraits, but the range is such that I will end up using it as my main walk about lens.

The focusing is fast and reasonably quiet on the KM 5D and there is good sharpness to the results- even wide open. I especially like the lack of CA.

This is a great lens, and if you are looking for a lens of similar range and aperture range do consider it.

I have had a bitter experience with Sigma's QC in the past (28-70mm f2.8) and so had the odd concern about this lens, but my sample is pretty much spot on.

Highly recommended.
