comment:Like others here, I bought this lens based on the great reviews in this forum. I was not disappointed! I love this lens. I must have gotten a good copy, becuse I have found it focuses fast and accuratly. This lens is very, very sharp at all focal lengths, even wide open, if focused with care. Build is very well done, everything is solid as a rock. The zoom is a bit stiff, but I don't mind. The only negative I have is the huge (82mm) filter diameter. I'm not sure why the lens has to have such a large diameter. Filters are $$$$! Others have "complained" about the focus noise. Is it SSM (HSM) quite? No. Is it loud? I don't think so. All in all, I would highly recommend this lens!
