ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Minolta 17-35 D
Sigma 20mm f:/1.8
price paid:N/A
positive:Easy to use, not as heavy as it looks like. Better match to A900 than A55 balance and size wise. Excellent in low light situations. Fast focus.
negative:As beginner I just have to get used to it, some images are great, some are bit distorted but only due to positioning between camera and the subject.
comment:Very happy with the lens. Same as with 20mm version you have to learn how to use it. Excellent results in low light with f/1.8 locked. Practice will make you perfect. Not sure which one to keep, 24mm or 20mm version of it? Maybe keep 20mm and add 28mm? Would be very interested to try Quantaray versions of it, if anything should be more affordable.

Works very well outside with 2.0x TC with maximum f stop of 3.5. With TC 2.0x I would expect maximum f/3.6 however both cameras give me extra 0.1.

On a side note, my version S/N is starting with "2", no compatibility issues at all.
