ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Minolta af: 28-135,28-85, 28mm,100mm 2,8 macro, 50mm macro. Old Tokina At-x 90mm 2,5(with adapter)
price paid:150USD
positive:Small and solid. Exellent sharpness on fullframe. Also good colours.(Though not Minolta...) Good macro.
negative:On my a500: massive backfocus. Too little contrast and flat colour rendering. Flares too much.
comment:On a850 it is simply a pleasure....Especially from 5,6. Razorsharp. At least as sharp as-probably a shade sharper than dediceted macro lenses like 100mm and old legendary Tokina ("Bokina") 90mm 2,5) at close focus. Bought therefore another one in reserve.. Surprised me negative on Aps-c. (a500). Massive backfocus, have to focus manually. (With both lenses). Partly a camera problem(some of Minolta lenses gives a shade of the same problem.-since sonys aps-c cameras lack of microfocus adjustments it is a big problem for me-at least with this lens. Also too little contrast with dull colours. In my experience a lens with to faces, depending on camera. The ratings are for a850. On this it is a bargain.
