ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Minolta 35-105/3.5-4.5i
Minolta 50/1.7 RS
Tamron 17-50/2.8
Sigma 50/2.8 Macro (non-EX)
price paid:About 220 USD (new)
positive:- Usable wide open throughout its zoom range
- Very sharp stopped down
- Relatively fast for the price
- Non-rotating internal focus
negative:- Zoom direction opposite of Minolta standard
- Pincushion distortion at long end
comment:Way better than both Minolta lenses above at infinity. Don't just take my word for it, I have the pictures to show it, here.

All in all, a very nice lens that for some reason has unjustified bad reputation for being soft. Could it be that my copy is exceptionally good? Maybe, but regardless of the reason - I'm not selling it :-)
