ownership:I have experience with this lens
compared to:Kit lens 17-70. This Sigma is sharper and has better contrast in my view.
price paid:
positive:The price! Good build, smooth focus and zoom, Focus is also fast and don't seem to hunt. It has a zoom lock. Full set of contacts.
negative:None that I can find. Maybe the 1.5 crop factor it's not as wide as I would want in a one lens carry when going light.
comment:Got this lens on e bay new for $87 bucks some say it can be had much cheaper I seen it go for as little as $51 bucks. I wanted this lens just for the times when all I wanted to bring was one lens on the camera. I really didn't think this lens would be as sharp as it is. nor did I think it was going to feel as smooth as it does contrast is also good. It's not as soft as the kit lens that came with the 5D. It works well with the built in flash on the 5D but you do need to tak off the hood when using the cameras built in flash. If you tight for money but want a new lens in this range. I'm 100% happy with it for what I'm using it for. I don't think you can go wrong with this Sigma 28-200. George
