Stopped down it has very good image quality.

|comment:||I think having had the Minolta 28-135mm 4-4.5 before this lens, gave me a very high bar to measure this lens by. The particular 28-135mm I owned was incredibly sharp, right from f4. So while it was sort of slow at that aperture, it was perfectly usable at that aperture. |
This Sigma on the other hand was really only useful in bright day light, with ISO speeds that keep the aperture in its prime range, between f7-8 to f13. Again, my expectations were probably far too high when I bought this lens.
As for colour rating, I really don't know. Any review I post, I give a 5; 99% of my shooting is black and white film, so I just don't know.
