comment:The lens is huge compared to the old Minolta/Sony 1.4/50. It has some heft to it that may be deal breaker. It does, however, balance well on a full frame body.

The AF is silent and swift but not very fast. The Sony 1.4/50 acquires focus as fast as the Sigma, if not faster. The CZ 24-70 is faster to focus too. You might want to fine-tune the AF but that's no lens fault.

The bokeh is very fine but not rocking. Of course, subject isolation is easily possible and a 3D effect can be achieved.

Despite being so conveniently small the Sony 1.4/50 never convinced me. When shooting wide open I got images that have been a bit on the soft side. I don't hesitate to shoot the Sigma at 1.4 - it's very shard, it's great...
