|comment:||I bought this lens for shooting wide open on my A99, which I can't with the old Sony 50 1.4. After the first few test shots I noticed many photos weren't track sharp. After many test shots in various lighting conditions, micro-adjustment, comparison with Sony 50 1.4 and Minolta 85 1.4 lock-on, I was sure it wasn't locking focus accurately. I even switched the AF on the A99 to slow and waited a fraction of a second longer for it to focus (after the beep), it improved accuracy but was still getting some missed shots in all sorts of conditions. |
I finally compared to a Sigma Art 50 on a friend's Canon 6D and it was flawless in his.
So I returned the lens to go for the Zeiss 50, with the advantage of having a much wider AF area on the A99 II.
As a professional I can't rely on a lens that doesn't give me confidence I can get the shot.
My build rating reflects only on the AF accuracy.
