positive:Sharp... very sharp even wide open.
Just a great "look" to the shots. Fabulous in BW or colour.
Great Bokeh.
Very fast ssm focussing.
negative:Manual focus very rough feeling.. I understand this is just the way it is with this lens. So my build rating of 4.
comment:I have never been a "nifty fifty" sort of guy. That is, until this lens. The IQ is something really special I think. Very, very sharp wide open in the center area of the frame with lovely bokeh. Very fast, accurate focussing. This is my fastest focussing lens, even faster than my 80-200 HS. I love this lens for event shooting, street shooting and especially my kids in action at the playground or wherever. Highly recommended. I like it as much as my Zeiss's. I would love to try the "art" lens, but I doubt I ever will. I don't feel a need for a "better" 50mm 1.4.
