comment:Shooting natural light portraits is my thing and I've always loved shooting with 50's on crop sensors. This is by far the best of the bunch I've tried. The bokeh is wonderfully smooth, the focusing is quick and silent. I know the main knocks on this lens are the weight and size, but for me I am thrilled with both. Now I can use those pricey 77mm filters on more than just my 70-200. Sigma has won me over lately with their higher end lenses so much so that I'm planning on picking up the new 17-50 to round out my lineup. For me the Sigma 50/1.4 compares very favorably to the Zeiss 85/1.4 optically and feel wise. Now that the price has come down a bit, there's not much reason to consider the Sony version over the Sigma. Maybe when Sony gets around to updating their 50mm I'll change my mind. But for now, I can't imagine being happier.
