comment: | Top tear lens along with the 35mm GM and the 135mm GM. Yes it's only f2.0 but it blows the Zeiss 55mm out of the water, at the edges and the corners as well as have significantly higher resolving power. Resolving power is a rating that we should be able to score on as it it is relevant to our increasingly demanding camera bodies. Higher resolving lenses create more information for the sensor, excite a greater number of pixels and reduce sensor noise. Lens distortion is handled by our RAW editors automatically as it is in camera for Jpegs. The mild distortion of this lens requires less correction than several of my GM lenses, so it gets a 5 rating from me. |

comment: | I had purchased this lens from the same seller for a bit less two months ago, but they were backordered at the time. The Sigma 45 F2.8 DG DN has become one my favorite lenses, and the Sigma 60 F2.8 DN Art was the most impressive lens optically for APS-C, so I had high expectation for this lens. I quite like the 60ish mm focal length of lenses like the Minolta 58mm F1.4. This lens is surprisingly large especially next to the Samyang 75 F1.8. It is heavier than the Sony FE 85 F1.8. It is smaller and lighter than both the new and old Sigma 70 F2.8 Macro primes. Like the 45, the aperture control operates much nicer than the one on the Sony 20 F1.8 G. "MADE IN JAPAN" This lens is sharper in the center than the 55 Sonnar, the Samyang 75, or the Sony 85 F1.8. The Samyang 75 is close to half its price and weight. APS-C users can stick with the APS-C 60mm primes. In back-to-back testing it focuses at least as quickly as the FE 1.8/55 Sonnar. |

positive: | - high quality build - really good pictures - sharp / Sharp / sharp.... - light and tiny |
negative: | nothing |
comment: | It is a really cool lens. I thought It is perfect in additional to my Zeiss Basis 40mm. I'm only using fix lenses. Compared to Minolta 50, it is really sharp....If it is worth to buy it for 680EUR in additional to the 50 Minolta lens... No, of course the pictures are sharper, but in the end the difference was not so significant. I have given it back to the store. |
