Future - beyond a1 and a7RIV bodies and after Sony 70-200 f2.8 GM E-mount V2 comes out
comment:I've owned this lens for about 3 years now and have run it alongside the Minolta 80-200mm G HS and the Sony 70-400mm G2. My copy is great - very sharp even at f2.8/200mm but sensational f4.0-. Focus is great on the newer bodies. On the a99mk2 and the a7RIV with LA-EA5 it works a treat and I've pretty much stopped using the the Minolta 80-200mm G and also found myself using the Sony 70-400mm G2 less than I used to - the versatility on image quality and focus on the newer cameras is noticeable. I never used a V1 of this lens so can't comment. I have had the opportunity to run it alongside the current 70-200mm f2.8 GM E-mount on an a7RIV and it was hard to notice a difference on the tasks I put them through. others would show a greater difference depending on the situation. There will likely be a greater difference when an updated GM version gets released.
