ownership:I used to own this lens
compared to:- Sony Zeiss 24-70mm f/2.8 SSM T*
price paid:
missing
positive:- well built
- quite sharp once stopped down to f/2.8-4
negative:- not so sharp at f/1.4-2
- vignetting at large apertures
- lateral and axial CA
comment:dated design, but still capable of delivering excellent results once stopped down to f/2.8-4. the problem, however, is that my 24-70/2.8 ZA offers comparable performance at 35mm and same apertures.

i do see the use of this lens at f/1.4-2 for low light, environment portraits, though its dated design does reveal itself in these situations (i.e. not so sharp, less contrasty, lateral and axial CAs).

all in all, an updated version would be welcome.
