comment:This lens has such shallow DOF that it is easy to miss the target, which leads one to believe it is not sharp wide open. I may have gotten lucky here? It is not as contrasty or sharp as the 35f2. It presents very similar in color and contrast to the Sony 50f1.4 and Minolta 85f1.4 [original].

This is a most excellent portrait lens! It compares quite well to the Sony 50f1.4 and the Minolta 85f1.4. These three are the Magic Trinity! If you want lush supple yet powerful portraits these three will deliver! On the other hand I would use the 35f2 with the Minolta 100 f2 as they present more closely than would the 35G and 100f2 would in terms of color, sharpness and contrast.

This lens is not for everyone. If you like people pictures with lush colorful bokeh backgrounds then this is what you are looking for and I highly recommend it.
