It s sharp and gives good color and contrast.
I compared this lesn wide open with Sony 50 1.4 at 2.8 and I couldnt tell a difference.

It s solidly built. The optic recesses quite far inside so You dont really need a protecting filter.

For portrait, it might not give your DOF like 1.7 or 1.4 but at 2.8, it promises you among the sharpest money can buy.

Certainly more versatile than the 100 2.8 Macro. You can pretty much travel with this lens and this lens only. Portraits, reasonable landscape, macro, or even low light..you name it.
