ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Tamron 70-300 usd
price paid:660€ new
positive:Very sharp, great colors, no flare, speed.
negative:Build quality (for a G lens), weatherproofing.
comment:Great lens, not as sharp or fast as the 70-200 G, but has more reach and your kit will not need tripod-monopod support. Because many users here and in dpreview suggest the Tamron equivalent, I tried it before buying and it goes nowhere near the Sony. Focusing speed is much slower, tracking speed is light-years behind. Sharpness, color and flare are also worse in Tamron. Get the Tamron if you are on a Budget but do not be fooled that you bought the same thing paying half price.
A77ii users will not believe the combo outcome, particularly when shooting fast moving subjects.
