ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Sony 70-400mm Mk 1
Nikon 300mm f4 (on APS-C D7100)
price paid:£1600 New
positive:Can be hand held for Birds in Flight
Fast AF
Sharp at 400mm and f5.6
negative:Need to buy Camouflage cover for what I want to do.
No weather sealing
comment:Better and faster AF than MK 1 on same A99 camera.
As fast and accurate as my favourite Nikon lens for BIF but a bit heavier. It is let down by the SLT camera which cannot continuously respond to action shots like the Nikon combination can. Need an APS-C non SLT camera body to get more length but in the meantime cropping will be just as good.
Will compare it to the Tamron 150-600mm when I get it.
