comment:I bought this lens back in the day of my Sony a99
It was always sharp, but sometimes the AF would miss just in front or behind while blatantly lying to me saying..'Hey I'm in focus, we're locked on! LIAR, LIAAAAR... 😁
But now on my A6600 and A7r3 I have found a new respect for this old girl. She was always sharp and let me tell you with the kenko 1.4x Tc on either e mount it will AF very quickly and accurately. This was not the case with the old A77ii or a99.
This lens is heavy but I am using it as a walk around to get more reach than my sony 70 - 300 e mount (which I love). The 70 - 400 is a heavy lens especially with the A6600, but its not as big, heavy or bulky as my Tamron 150 - 600 G2. I also love that lens, but never handhold it. It is on a gimbal full time.
