comment:Almost identical IQ to a good copy of the original version but more resistant to flare.

EDIT Just taken some close up shots in the garden at 55mm f5.6. Sharpness and details are outstanding, not quite macro quality but nevertheless very usable. I would imagine when this lens hits the second hand market, it will sell for a similar price to the original version. You wont find a better lens for the price. If you don't need the larger maximum apertures, don't waste money on expensive 17/18-50 f2.8s which won't be any better. This lens is that good.
