ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Some Minolta zoom and prime lenses.
price paid:kit lens
positive:Great also on full frame (film) camera from about 22 mm and more.
negative:Bestial stink out of the box. Now after 4 months my fingers still stink after touching the lens. That can't be healthy. The lens stinks like PAH-contaminated chinese shoes of the worst kind. You don't want that on your feet, and you don't want that at all on your bare hands.
comment:I can't imagine that the stink is healthy. Therefore only 1 point for built rating. A shame for this otherwise fine lens. The Sony Service cleaned the lens without any improvement but also said there was no fault. Obviously I'm not the only one with this problem. But Sony says, there are no such known problems with the lens.

Sony: that's not the way you make friends!
