comment:This is now my new walkaround lens. The kit has served its purpose.

For a lens that can take wide angle shots without the constricting limitations of a 50mm, this is the way to go.

Extremely sharp at F4 for group shots. Extremely sharp at F8 for macro. F2.8 effect on macro has superb results and bokeh but beware of CA at large F openings.

Do not compare this lens to the 50mm 1.7. The 50mm 1.7 focuses faster but shall only be a portrait lens for the most part.

This will never leave my bag now simply because of versatility. Wide shots, F2.8 advantage, macro...what's not to like?
